QUESTION TAGS
1. Bir “Question Tag’in anlamı, onu nasıl söylediğine göre değişir. Eğer sesinizin tonu aşağıya inerse, bir soru sormaz, sadece dinleyicinin size katılıp katılmadığını öğrenmek istiyorsunuzdur.
*** He doesn’t look well today, does he? No,he doesn’t.
Eğer sesinizin tonu yukarı doğruysa bu gerçek bir sorudur.
*** You haven’t brought me the book, have you?
2. “Question Tags” konuşma dilinde yada bazen informal yazıda kullanılır.
3. Olumlu cümlelerden sonra olumsuz “tags” ; olumsuz cümlelerden sonra olumlu “tags” kullanılır.
*** She is from Ankara, isn’t she?
*** They don’t get up early, do they?
4. “Question Tags” sıradan sorular değildir. Bunları bilgiyi teyyit etmek için kullanırız. Bu soruların sonunda istenen, dinleyicinin tasdik etmesidir.
*** She is studying English, isn’t she?
5. “nobody, somebody, anybody, everybody, none, no one” gibi zamirler için “they” kullanırız. “Question Tags” de “nothing” için “it” kullanırız.
*** Neither of them will object, will they?
*** Somebody entered the garden, didn’t they?
*** Nothing will care his illness, will it?
6. “Imperatives” yani emir cümlelerinden sonra :
a) … won’t you ? : insanları bir şey yapmaya davet etmek için
b) … will / would / can / could you ? : insanların bir şeyler yapmalarını istemek için
c) … will you ? : olumsuz emir cümlelerinde
d) … shall we ? : “let’s…” yapısından sonra kullanılır.
*** Help me, can’t you ?
*** Give me a hand, will you ?
*** Don’t forget, will You ?
*** Let’s go to the cinema, will you ?
7. Eğer ifadede, “no” (sıfat olarak) , “more , no one , nothing , nobody , scarcely , hardly , hardly ever , seldom” gibi ifadeler varsa , olumlu “tag” kullanılır.
*** No parking is allowed, is it?
*** She hardly ever drinks coke, does she ?
8. “I am…” ifadesinden sonra “aren’t” kullanılır.
*** I am late, aren’t I ?
